PRIVACY POLICY

SECURITY

Covenant House Washington (CHW), is a Washington, DC Metropolitan Region not-for-profit corporation, and is the sole owner of information collected on covenanthousedc.org. CHDC collects personally-identifiable information from visitors at several points on our website, some of which is collected via unsecured email web forms. An email web form is like most common types of email messages, except the sender need not use third-party software. CHDC will not sell, trade or share a donor’s personal information collected online or offline with anyone else, nor send donor mailings on behalf of other organizations unless the donor has given CHDC specific permission to do so. For example, if you make a donation in commemoration of another person, we will send recognition of your donation to a third-party address provided by you. If you have any questions regarding the security of your credit card donation online, please email externalaffairs@chdc.org, or call 202-610-6501 for more information.

DONATIONS

If you pledge money as a donation to us, we request certain personally-identifiable information from you on our secure donation form and/or by telephone. You must provide contact information (such as name, email, and billing address) and financial information (such as credit card number, expiration date). We use this information for billing purposes and to fulfill your donation. If we have trouble processing a donation, we will use this information to contact you. If authorized by you, CHDC will use this information to provide newsletters periodically and announcements about CHDC, including enhancements to this site.

SECURITY WITH DONATIONS

Covenant House Washington is grateful for the donations that help us continue our valuable work. It is very important to us that your personal information remain secure. When you donate to Covenant House Washington online, your credit card information is secured by a reputable security company. Also, your credit card number is used only for that particular transaction and is not stored. You will notice in your web site address bar that the domain name starts with an “https” on those donation pages. This means that information entered on those pages is encrypted for your security. This actually makes it more secure than using a credit card in physical form at a store for example. If you have any questions regarding the security of your credit card donation online, please e-mail mtracy@chdc.org for more information.
